What is the spiritual meaning of scoliosis?
Introduction
Many medical conditions can hold a greater spiritual understanding for us beneath the surface.
The spiritual meaning of scoliosis is one such condition.
As we all know, we are not just a physical body.
We are an energetic body, and further from that, we have our higher self or the soul.
We need to ensure that we are incorporating all three bodies when one is sick or in need of medical attention. If we don’t, we run the risk of never getting to the point where we are able to get a hold of our symptoms.
The Link Between the Spine and Our Energy Centres
Our chakras control our energetic body, but they can have a massive impact on our physical body if they are out of balance or blocked.
These powerful centers that lie throughout our body are extremely sensitive to what is going on in our life, emotionally and physically.
The root chakra is responsible for everything physical in our bodies, the bones, muscles, and tissues.
The significant tissue in scoliosis is the bones of the spine.
If the base chakra is dysfunctional, problems like scoliosis can begin to present themselves.
Scoliosis is found in the cervical spine, thoracic spine, or lumbar spine.
This also correlates to three very important chakras.
The sacral chakra, the heart chakra, and the throat chakra. So, depending on where the problem is showing up for you, then it would be a good idea to look at these chakras too.
The Spiritual Meaning of Your Scoliosis Based on Its Position
The Root Chakra
The root chakra represents our stability in the world.
It is the center of grounding and anchors us to the earth.
Bearing this in mind, scoliosis may be presenting for you due to the following reasons:
You don’t feel like you belong
This can be a scary and confusing feeling. But rest assured that most people that find themselves on this spiritual path also felt the same way at one point or another.
Because we are different!
That’s ok, and one day, it will all make sense, just trust that you will find your way and that you will find your people.
You need to be more grounded.
During meditation, you may need some more grounding energy.
Make sure that you visualize yourself joined to the earth with strong roots coming from your base chakra, picture them grabbing onto the earth and digging deep underground before you go into your meditations.
The Lumbar Spine and the Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is responsible for our emotions, relationships, creativity, and well-being.
If this is where your scoliosis is showing up, then this center may be blocked.
The reasons your sacral chakra could be blocked:
Fear
Journaling is a really good way to help you understand your fears and how this is affecting you.
Take some time to write down what is making you emotional and anything that you are fearful of.
Once you have identified the cause of your fear, you are halfway there.
Meditating on how you can fix the problem, talking therapies, or reiki can be amazing at helping with this.
Finding your creative voice
Your journey is like no other. You have learned skills and had experiences that nobody else has had.
Whatever it is that you want to do or say, is very valid and very powerful. You have a huge story to tell, and you need to communicate that through whichever medium you say it with.
Take a deep breath and put yourself out there, you will be met with love and kindness because the universe is always behind you.

The Thoracic Spine and The Heart Chakra
The heart chakra is the center for love, for others and ourselves.
If we have a blockage here, there are two main reasons why:
You are not loving yourself.
Self-love is a big deal. And not caring for yourself and your own needs can really do some damage.
If your heart chakra is telling you to take more care of yourself and open your heart to your own needs, then you really need to listen.
Make a list of things that make you happy and a list of things that you need to be more you.
Then write down some things to help these things happen.
Once you begin to listen to your own heart, you will begin to move this energy that no longer serves you.
You do not feel you deserve love.
This is a really hard one. Bought on by past trauma and experience, this emotion is difficult to move.
This is a learned belief and one that needs to be rewritten.
Ensure that you are conscious of your thoughts about yourself and consciously correct them to thoughts of love towards yourself and others.
Taking therapy and energetic therapies are great to help with this.

The Cervical Spine and the Throat Chakra
The throat chakra is our center for communication.
Our voice about ourselves and others.
If you are experiencing scoliosis of the neck, it could be that your communication could do with some healing:
You are not communicating boundaries enough.
Boundaries are an important part of life.
And if you grew up not being able to set boundaries or you weren’t taught healthy boundaries, this could be the reason you are experiencing a blockage here.
Work on setting small boundaries throughout your day, things that don’t really matter to anyone else but could be a big deal for you.
Then make bigger ones until you are able to set the boundaries that you thought you’d never be able to set.
This is an exciting thing to master, and you’ll never look back.
You are putting too much pressure on yourself.
In this instance, you are using your own inner voice to put way too much pressure on yourself.
Perfection and control are things that we really need to learn to let go of if we want a relaxed life.
So if your neck is presenting with scoliosis, it could mean that you need to take some time to release the pressure on yourself.
Find the courage to stop doing those things you don’t want to do and start doing the things that would relieve some of that pressure.
Once you do, your poor neck will thank you.
Every physical manifestation has an energetic and emotional reasoning behind it.
Take the time to find out what they are, and you are halfway to solving the problem.
Make sure to be kind to yourself and keep your inner voice kind and reassuring.
You are doing an incredible job.

Very insightful and very real. My son is suffering from an undiagnosed lower back pain which seems to be presenting as scoliosis. I’m not a doctor but it does appear this way. He does seem to be experiencing doubt and internal conflict Inline with the perspective of himself. He is a lamp and lights the way for others but seems to be in his own darkness. I don’t want to interfere with his journey to avoid friction. I keep my observations to myself. Can one encourage another in a direction of self healing with out friction? Or am I best to let him find his way?
