Within The Book Of Enoch, we find the story of Enoch, who was the father of Methuselah (the oldest person in the Bible who lived 969 years).

According to Jewish tradition, Enoch was the great-grandfather of Noah, who walked with God.

#1 The 1st Book of Enoch was discovered in Abyssinia in 1773 by a Scottish explorer named James Bruce.

It is an apocryphal book in the Ethiopic Bible which is typically dated between the 3rd century BC and the 1st century AD.

#2 It was considered sacred by some first followers of Christ; however, it was left out of the Bible and disappeared for centuries until it was rediscovered in 1773. 

In 1821, it was translated by Richard Laurence and published in a number of editions.

#3 The 1st book of Enoch has five sections, as follows:

#4 Book of the Watchers (1-36) – the first part of the book is about “The Watchers,” a group of “angels” sent to Earth to watch over humans.

”Asael taught men to make swords of iron and weapons and shields and breastplates and every instrument of war. He showed them metals of the earth and how they should work gold to fashion it suitably, and concerning silver, to fashion it for bracelets and ornaments for women.

#6 Book of the Similitudes (37-71) – this section of the book appears to be based on the Book of Watchers. However, it presents a later development of the idea of final judgment and eschatology.

#7 The Book of Similitudes uses the expression “Son of Man” for the eschatological protagonist, who is also called Chosen One, Righteous One, and Messiah, and narrates his sitting on the throne of glory in the final judgment.

#8 Book of the Astronomical Writings (72-82) – this section of the book contains descriptions of the movement of heavenly bodies and of the firmament, as a knowledge revealed to Enoch in his trips to Heaven guided by Uriel.

#9 Book of the Dream Visions (83-90) – this section of the book contains a vision of the history of Israel all the way down to what the majority have interpreted as the Maccabean Revolt.

In addition, this section of the book and later near the end describes the appointment by God of the 70 angels to protect the Israelites from enduring too much harm from the ”beasts and birds.”

#10 According to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the book was written before the Flood.

#11 Book of the Epistle of Enoch (91-107) – this section of the book contains a text called the “Apocalypse of Weeks” that some historians believe in having been written at about 167 B.C.E.

The 2nd Book of Enoch

#12 The 2nd Book of Enoch was once present in the Old Slavonic Bible.

It is not included in either the Christian or the Jewish canon.

#13 It is basically an account of Enoch’s travels through the 7 heavens and includes certain revelations given to Enoch and Enoch’s exhortations to his children.

  4. Go back to the book of Gensis so you can see that there are two Enoch’s. Enoch son of Cain and Enoch son of Jared. Two different Enoch’s.

      • You’re absolutely right, there were 2 Enochs, and it is the son of Jared who was the one who walked with God, not the son of Cain. I don’t know how they have become misinformed, but their conclusion is incorrect. It is quite clear from Genesis 5: 18 – 22.

      • Enoch, the son of Cain and Ramona was the one who walked with God and was taken by God to heaven.

      • Yes, we’re talking about the Enoch that was born of Jared….Enoch had a son, Methusela (oldest man lived)…We are NOT talking about the Enoch born of Cain.

    • You misunderstand the reading. The pronoun ‘He’ in Genesis 4:17 refers to Cain.

      The correct understanding should be:

      And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he(Cain) builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

      There are several places where this is stated so, including the Complete Jewish Bible, as well as the lineages from Adam down through history, throughout the Old Testament(and the New),

  17. People talk differently about this book. I have read book of Enoch.
    And it made me seek God more.
    It made me thInk about my life and to live more holy life then i used to. Much more.
    Satan does not want u to get close to God.
    In my opinion there is someoneout there does not want us to get close to God.
    If you study who putt Bibble
    together ,not who wrote it. Some interesting stuff. Back In Rome they talked about religion is a factor to how to control people.
    Just in few words. : enoch was like one of us and he walked with God and He took him, Ilajha was like us and he prayed and there was no rain for 3.5 years. Moses. Abraham. Peter, people was getting healed from his shade. Paul.
    Its possible to walk close with God.

  25. This book leads you deeper into Truth… it leads me to believe we are in the “little season,” mentioned in Revelation: the era of great deception. It’s amazing that entire books are hidden from the church, and it is frowned upon to even talk about researching the book of Enoch. I avoided it out of fear that I might dishonor God by looking into something that could be salacious, provocative and fabricated. This book is the opposite of all of that! This book is filled with Truth that I have been learning about! I have been praying to be led deeper into Truth and to know God more, and this book is answered prayer. It solidifies so much and makes so much make sense. The shape of our earth, the elect, giants… there is a very big reason this book has been hidden from us. The enemy does not want us to know just how supernatural our existence is. He wants us to remain focused on the flesh. This book leads us deeper into the Spirit. I am here for it, and I want so much more!! Praise God that His Word prevails- He will reveal Himself to those who seek with all their hearts. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. He is on the throne, and Truth always wins. Amen! God is so good! I cannot wait to see His face!

    • I agree with your comment. I have been a Christian since I was 12 years old. I was past 60 when I read the books of Enoch or even knew they existed. Reading them connected so many dots for me, which was such a blessing. I have to say, though, I had to pray about being aggravated that these wonderful books were with held in the first place.
