Iconography

Namgyalma Bodhisattva is one of the 3 deities of longevity.

Her middle face, body, and 8 arms are white in color, signifying the elimination of all misfortunes.

Her right face manifests the Bodhisattva’s compassion for all sentient beings, and her left face represents her skill at cutting through ignorance through wrathful means.

She is usually depicted holding a double dorje in one hand and a rope in the other hand at heart chakra level, while the palm of her lower right hand is facing the front to gratify the devotee’s aspirations and wishes.

On the left side, her first hand is tilting upward, while her second hand is grasping a bow, and her lower left hand is holding a pot of ambrosia with a flower in bloom.

Mantra chanting benefits:Namgyalma Mantra - lyrics

Chanting the mantra is a very powerful method for the purification of the body and of the soul. Gautama Buddha taught his followers of the many health benefits that can come from chanting the mantra.

The mantra can increase your lifespan, purify your obscurations, help to free you from illness, and ultimately help you to achieve spiritual liberation.

Furthermore, it is said that this mantra is so powerful that anybody who hears it will never again be born from the womb. Thus, if animals hear it, they will never again be reborn in the lower realms.
